Biometrics is about measuring unique physical characteristics of the human anatomy, such as, fingerprints, iris, face, hand geometry, retinal, vein and voice. Biometrics is fast becoming the preferable security choice of the future, and the present day!

Current ID Access methods such as Personal Identification Numbers (PINs) or passwords can be transferred to other people therefore a greater security risk.

BQT has long seen Biometrics as a perfect compliment to Mifare smart card technology. The high security, memory capacity and processing power offered by a Mifare smart card in such a small package lends itself to applications utilising and individuals unique and personal characteristics.

A Biometrics solution offers greater security for the user when accompanied with a Mifare smart card to offer the individuals a privately held proof of identification. The card maintains the user's biometrics template - stored within the cards memory. This offers a simple to use technology without the need for infrastructure to communicate and compare against a central database, even if privacy issues were overcome in the future.
