How does Iris compare...
Iris Access 4000

What is the Iris?

The iris is the externally visible coloured ring around the pupil of every human eye. The iris forms a distinctive pattern that forms randomly in utero in a process called chaotic morphogenesis and doesn't change in one's lifetime.

Like a snowflake, every iris is absolutely unique. This uniqueness is the core of iris recognition - the most accurate, stable, scalable and rapid human authentication technology available.

A subject's left and right iris is as different from each other as they are from any other individual's. It has been calculated that the chance of finding two randomly formed identical irises is on an almost astronomical order of 1 in 1078.

What is Iris Recognition Technology?

Iris recognition is the best of breed authentication process available today. While many mistake it for retinal scanning, iris recognition simply involves taking a picture of the iris; this picture is used solely for authentication.

Iris recognition technology identifies people by the unique patterns of the iris.

The technology gathers information about each iris and encodes it to create 240 statistically independent values (degrees of freedom). These values are used to create a 512 byte digital template.
