miPASS Smart Cards
The increasing demand for single card solutions has contributed to the rapid growth of Mifare contactless smart card technology. With the addition of available applications such as access control, time & attendance, biometric template, digital photo, loyalty or club membership, cashless payments and ticketing systems, a card provides the user with a cost effective, enhanced alternative to conventional proximity cards, as well as a multi-purpose credential.
What is Mifare?
Mifare is a contactless smart card technology
(13.56 MHz radio frequency / ISO 14443A)
designed by Philips Electronics, who
manufactures and distribute this product
worldwide.
The benefits of Mifare contactless smart
cards are reliability, its extensive security
features and multi-application memory
options to store several applications
on the one card.
BQT’s miPASS smart card range offers full
read and write functionality allowing the cards
to be recycled or the easy addition of more
data. The card is a memory card that is made
up of sectors or folders used to store data,
which are locked securely with encrypted
keys. Data contained in the card is transmitted
via a high frequency signal from the reader
to the card at a distance of up to 5cm.
Unlike contact cards, the miPASS smart
card eliminates ambient concerns of
humidity, dirt and dust thus decreasing wear
and tear adding to the longevity of the card.
Data is also guaranteed to be retained in
the card for up to 10 years.
The miPASS smart card is available in a
standard 1K or 4K memory size. Larger
memory cards (up to 32K) and dual interface
cards, such as Magstripe, PROX (125KHz) & Contact chip cards are also available.
In applications where a card might not
be suitable, the miPASS KeyFob offers
a practical alternative.
The miPASS product is available for high
security applications in DESFire format,
delivering 3DES (digital encryption standard)
encryption RF communication from the card
and is usually applied in Financial, Military
and high risk Government Institutions
