Suited for indoor and outdoor environments, the award-winning YG80 is a motor-driven, high-strength lock for securing any opening that needs true security. Learn more about the product in this exclusive Q&A with Jonathan Wendt, BQT’s Head of Global Sales:
For what application(s) was the lock originally designed, and how has it evolved?
Wendt: The first edition of the YG80 was designed as a roller door lock with an innovative weatherproof design, and a gate lock version followed soon after. As interest in these locks increased, we began to develop a new version where we could improve the original design and introduce key features that the market was asking for – including increased strength, an onboard heater, new operational modes and UL listing to expand the application possibilities and its ability to work in challenging environments. As a result, we have seen the YG80 used in various verticals, including transportation, government, agriculture and many more.
How does it connect to enterprise access control systems, and what information about the lock can be monitored?
Wendt: The engineers at BQT Solutions designed the YG80 to be a fully monitored lock that integrates directly into an access control system, ensuring a facility is fully monitored and secure at all times. The YG80 has a full range of output signals, including bolt locked and unlocked position, door position and tamper detection, which combined give the user a very accurate picture of the lock status. This is all easily and directly integrated into any enterprise access control system, as you would expect with any other high-security lock simply requiring 12-24VDC power.
Door position monitor – By monitoring the position of the door, the access control system and security team can have confidence that the door is in its intended position, open or closed. Having this feature built into the lock and matching strike plate offers added security and convenience.
