Let's start at the beginning. With a sideload lock, the lock is engineered to open under sideload pressure where a traditional solenoid lock won't. This is because when inhabitants of a building see a fire, they're likely to put pressure on the door to get out, a normal stress response. So, we used this knowledge of how people interact with dangerous situations to produce a lock that will still unlock and open under external sideload pressures.
Once the inhabitants are out of the danger zone, the next problem is ensuring the fire door is aligned and closed correctly to ensure the fire doors integrity isn't compromised in containing the fire. Again, the Cobalt and Cobalt-mini has been fire tested for 30 minutes, 60 minutes, and 4 hours burn time to ensure our locks won't compromise a fire door's effectiveness.
